Are you excited as I am!?!

Next month the idiot President of Iran is coming to New York City to speak at the UN! As much as I would like to go see him, going to be too busy to make the trip. Maybe one of our home grown Militia's could get their 15 minutes of fame when he arrives! One could only hope! At least this will be his last visit before his term as President expires. Going to enjoy not seeing his ugly mug in the news after he retires or is executed, lol

In other Iranian news, the head of the Iranian Navy, Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari (and no I don't know how to pronounce that name, hard enough to spell it!) said that since US Navy warships are off the coast of Iran, that in the next few years, Iranian vessels will be in International Waters off the US Coast. Construction has begun on the new Iranian ships for that purpose, and Tehran has released a picture of a prototype under going sea trials already. Still have to work out problems with its propulsion system though!

Well, given that all Iranian presidential candidates have to be approved by the Governing Council, who in turn are selected by Ali Khamenei himself, I wouldn't hope for much improvement in Ahmadinejad's successor.

Let him speak at the UN. Remember what happens last time her addressed the UN-almost everyone left the building.

As long he just use his mouth and speak of level Israel, and other funny stuff, he's no threat to the west or the world.

You have to remember that a leader in the middle east speaks with two tungues

One directed to his own people(mostly open to tv or radio)It's here they us strong words
second to the leader of the west or the world(secret to the people in that country) Here they are very soft.

Almost accurate.

The Council of Guardians consists of 12 members. Six are faqihs or Islamic Law experts and they are appointed by the Supreme Leader. However the other six are jurists who are experts in other aspects of law. They are elected by the Malis or Iranian Parliament.

With almost 20 major political parties in Iran ranging from conservative to reformist, change can come to Iran, but it won't come quickly.

Iran has a young population. As soon as the old guys start dying off and the young citizens become of age, changes will come....but it will take time.

I'm ordering extra toliet paper just in case for the day of Ahmadinejad's arrival in New York

By the way Khamenei did pick this dude and has said (can't find it right now though) that if Israel or the USA nukes Iran that they were going to heaven anyway.

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/former-cia-agent-in-iran-comes-in-from-the-heat/2/

The rulers in Iran believe it is their duty to prepare the circumstances for the reappearance of the 12th Imam. “Our Revolution’s main mission is to pave the way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam, Imam Mahdi,” Ahmadinejad said during a speech in 2005 to leaders from across the country. Shiites believe the reappearance of the 12th Imam will bring justice and peace to the world by establishing Islam throughout the world. They believe he will reappear when the world has fallen into chaos. It is believed the chaos will start in Afghanistan and then move into Iraq, where there will be blood and destruction everywhere (already in the works) and from there to the world with burning dark clouds (nuclear war). The 12th Imam will then come to destroy the “Dajjal,” the False Messiah, free the world from oppression and aggression, and then bring justice where it will be heaven on earth for many years to come. It is said Jesus will reappear at the same time and fight alongside Mahdi.
Members of the Iranian leadership say they have a “signed contract” with the 12th Imam and are doggedly pursuing nuclear weapons to bring on that catastrophe. Iran’s president, Ahmadinejad, has said that Israel must be destroyed (2005 “World without Zionism” speech, “Israel must be wiped off the map”). This is no idle threat.
If the mullahs’ true intention is to provide electricity through nuclear energy for the Iranians (which they claim) — the same Iranians whose women, students, teachers, writers and union workers are being flogged, beaten, tortured and stoned to death, the same Iranians who are denied a free election or freedom of speech — then why wouldn’t they accept the comprehensive incentive package offered by the world leaders in full, scrap the enrichment process, and bring peace and prosperity to their nation?
The reason is that their belief in Islam’s conquest of the world through the coming of the 12th Imam mandates their actions, and — just as a suicide bomber — they are not even interested in their own survival and cannot be diverted from their chosen path. The question is: Can the world afford to sit idly by and wait for Armageddon?

on a side note I couldn't leave out Iran without mentioning the "O" word

I also wondered about that figure. I found a Pew number for 2010 at 2.6.

http://pewresearch.org/databank/dail...?NumberID=1205

They are calling for something in the neighborhood of 7 million, but by 2030; numbers that clearly do not exist today.
