Ahoy,
I'm new to the Forums, purchased DW about 2 Months ago, and after teasing my Boyfriend with screenshots for long enogh, i finally got him to try it out aswell, so we had our first few MP Runs together. I stepped on 3 Issues during MP which i haven't found a solution for yet so i decided to ask for help here. 1) When hosting a Game, it shows me my Hamachi IP in the Bottom window, even though Hamachi is turned off. We ended up having to turn on Hamachi and play over this network instead of 'true internet' which admittedly sucks since it's got a high desync (e.g. we saw eachothers rockets sinking down in the ocean and lagging across half of the map) is there any way to select which network the DW Game i hosted upon? (Hamachi is Net I, Internet is Net II, i have Windows 7 Professional 64bit if that helps and it's not an ingame menu thing) 2) Aircraft, aswell as DSRV's and Special Forces take incredibly long untill they are Deployed in MP. It's due to the 'Quick Aircraft Launch' beeing disabled i guess. Now for a mission with the FFG-7 i was wondering if it's possible to have the game start with the Heli on Alert 15 by default so i don't have to wait for an Hour. Is there any way to place a FFG-7, issue it a MH-60 and set it so it's on Alert status 15 already as the game begins? 3) Pause seems to work in MP, but time compression does not. Is there, once again, any way to turn on Time Compression so both player (e.g. in a multi station game) can agree on a time scale and fast forward a bit? Or give the host controll of Time Compression? Thank you in advance if you could help me out! Happy new Year and happy hunting - Elena. PS: Fourth Issue appeared ![]() |

Thank you for the Help!
Sadly, the Internet Options simply do not seem to work. My respective Router ports are opened, aswell as i have given the correct IP to my Friend, not the Local one (192.186...) but it just doesn't want to work. However we figured out the lag issue as we managed to run DW without steam, saving us loads of bandwidth the game can now utilize, which then again means much better sync and ping and corret flying rockets. About the Heli Quick Launch issue, this is unfortunate but i figured a way out. I simply added the MH60 as in-flight, and set it to be launched in future, with a 00:01:00 after mission start. So, a minute after we got started, the Helo took off from the deck. Time compression, thats sad. (Btw, this agreement to a certain compression was used in NWAC, thats where i got the idea from) but we figured out we can simply run it windowed and switch to full screen once the action goes down. Meanwhile we would do anything else, and if someone's busy we can simply pause the game. Once again thanks for your help, i hope this game remains its high entertainment value even after long time playing. A Player controlling a FFG in conjunction with a second one flying the FFG's Helo seems to be a promising combination. Cheers - Elli. |

Did you edit your DangerousWaters.ini to select the connection you wanted? That's how you force it to use a connection.
I sometimes had an issue getting DW to connect and I found that for me, DW listed two adaptors with the same name in my adaptors file. Also, It wouldn't connect for me as long as I had Hamachi running. All I did was shut down all the adapters except for one and it used that and connected fine. Dangerous Waters IS fun with multiplayer, but you have to have an attention span and be prepared for a long game. It can be VERY rewarding with multiplayer. This game also does NOT like lag. It tends to crash on me if I have a laggy connection. Also, for your enjoyment, here's the known issues so you can work around them when designing (or playing) scenarios. The DSRV is broken. It's steerable fine, You can use it to deploy your special forces. But whatever you do, don't order it to dock to your sub. It will just crash into it. It's docking abilites are completely FUBAR'd. Aircraft also tend to like to fly until they run out of fuel and then crash. They have no instict that they've hit "Bingo Fuel" and need to turn back to land. If you set up scenarios, just keep these points in mind and you can make some fantastic missions. Also, check out the downloads section here and also look at http://www.subguru.com/ There's some great scenarios there as well as the excellent "Red Storm Rising" campaign.

Just to add a bit of info on the aircraft issues, you can set organic aircraft to alert in the mission editor; the menu is accessible by right clicking the launching platform. And there are airport and helipad objects that can rearm playable aircraft available in the editor as well.
