Default Thought I was a goner...

Reloading aals off US East Coast in May 1942. Two Hudson's jump us and both flak guns open up, me controlling one of them. Could not dive for 12 minutes, an eternity when you are completely exposed on the surface. They made one pass and then astonishingly they both collide in mid-air and fall out of the sky !

I thought I was a goner for sure. Only damage was a good soaking for the lookout/gun crew with the spay of their bombs and of course our own sweat and piss.

Ha Ha that reminds me so much of my early days of playing SHIII, an event like that could really save the day! Kinda like the first DD I managed to sink; I 'accidentally' hit it with a torp head-on 'down the throat' couldn't beleive my luck!

Two planes playing chicken. Stock is funny like that. However, I do not understand why you couldn't dive? Unless it was way to shallow, crash diving is always an option. Nothing can really be gained by duking it out with planes except a gaping hole in the pressure hull. The only time it would be impossible to dive is reloading from external storage and stock does not model this.

You put in a little "mental realism", and in real life he would have had little to no choice in the matter.
Crew on deck, hatch open, pulley set up, torp on slide. Not going to get down in 27 seconds or less I would think.
I would have fought it out too.

A couple of you mentioned stock SHIII as having a thing for this type of behavior. I use GWX, h.ies realism patch and Steiblers add-on. The later prevents you from diving if you have already started the external loading.

So I had no choice as in real life to fight it out on the surface. Got lucky this day.
