Default [Mod Request] Fishing minigame for my uboat trip..

I like SH4 alot and I also like fishing alot. Would be nice if I can do both at the same time I know it sounds hilarious and totally 'unrealistic' but its FUN. Alot of time when i go to the DG view and look at the sea i have this urge to cast a fishing line.

while camping/patrolling it would be a real blast if I could also do some deep sea fishing to help with crew morale by providing fresh fish for meals

This can even make patrol with no TC possible.

ideas:
-Can purchase fishing gear upgrade with the pile of renown.
-Can boost crew morale via different type of catch?
-Can spot fish school with passive sonar.
-Can go back to wreck sites created by me or other kaleun and get extra fish catch? (fish love to congregate around ship wrecks).

Just a thought...

I guess you've never tried SCAF (Ship Centered, Accuracy Fix) or OTC (Optical Targeting Correction) and thumbed through the Recognition Manual in the Canadian section?!?

I like fishing too.

Ah, fishing and sub duty! Although, since you don't have time to sit around like Huck Finn on the mighty Mississippi, tossing a couple grenades from the armory would do well to fill the stock for a Friday fishfry!

Capn Scury, do you do much fishin' on Erie? I like Huron, as it's only a few miles away, and when I can afford, it, Lake Saint Clair for pike, muskie, and football sized smallies.

I've fished Lake Erie several times. Love the idea the lake is returning to what it used to be before the "Burning River" incident up in Cleveland.

My "spot" is Lake Nipissing in northen Ontario. Been going there for the past 30 years. Same family run cottages, same beautiful sunsets. Give me a rye, a cuban cigar, good friends, and the front porch.....fishing can wait!

Yeah, love the sunsets on the water!

This was May of 2010, and the young man in the pic, is now one of The Few, The Proud, and he was leaving 2 days later for bootcamp, but he nailed this 31 inch northern, and he also hooked into a 41 inch muskie, with a Johnson Silver Spoon with red porkrind trailing off the hook. The muskie was just one inch shy of keeper size which was disappointing. But since there were 3 of us on the boat, we let him haul 'em all in. The tally, for the day was 21 pike, 1 muskie, with 6 of the pike getting grilled.

Some good eatin' there!

That's a beauty!!

This thread is getting to be like the "Bill Dance Show" for the computer wargamer, (love his "out takes" episode).

I'm sure that young lad had a thrill when he hauled in those large fish! Hope he's doing well with the Marines.

I remember my 42 inch pike taking 20 minutes to land using fairly light tackle. That was a fish caught I'll never forget!

One thing I've found about the fish coming from the colder northern waters is that none of them taste "fishy", you know, with a strong fish taste. I fished Norris Lake in Tennessee for years with my dad and the bass/blue gill always had a strong taste to them (not a bad taste at all, but a strong distinct flavor to them). The fish from up north don't have that distinct taste. Could be pike or perch, they both taste about the same.....GREAT. I've never not liked a fried fish put in front of me!!
