Default enemy pinging goes on forever?

So, here's my story. I was attacking two military vessels (two Hunt classes I think). I shot 1 Falke per ship. One hitted and destroyed ships engine. Second missed because ship slowed down and went to search me. She started to ping me so I hid under first ship (that one with destroyed engines) But now this second ship is doing circles above me and pinging constantly, just can't shoot DC because she would need to ram first ship to get to me.
Here goes question: Do ships stop pinging eventually? Im running on x16 TC and ship is doing circles all the time. I wonder if I will die from CO2 reaching its limit Do I need to make a move or just sit there and wait?

Welcome to Subsim

I have never been in a similar situation but as long as the destroyer can ping you, she will not leave.

There is a certain amount of time (I don't remember now) that , if the destroyer doesn't have sonar contact with your Uboot , she leaves the area.

Good luck escaping from that situation.
Why on earth did you attack two destroyers at the same time , even with Falke torpedoes?

Just experimenting with passive acoustic torpedoes I always hit them with T III and everything goes well. Just not this time

Oh, and by the way: While they search me is there a difference in level of sound Im making between going ahead slow and setting speed manually to 1 knots?

Yes there is.

I am always setting speed manualy at 1 knot after I have activated silent running.

The ship dead in water doesn't have it's engines on, but can probably hear you perfectly. He listens to you, the one going around you pings you.

1. Get away from the DIW ship. If your battery is still good, I would do this with a fast speed. It's easy to avoid depth charges, if there is only one guy running after you.
2. After the DIW ship is a long way from you - I think 1 km might be enough, but 2 would make it more sure - start losing the runner. Slow down to 50 revolutions per minute, 1 knots. You might be able to make 100 RPM's and 2 knots, depending on how good the destroyer is.
3. Don't use time compression. That makes you louder (and more visible, if you're surfaced).
4. After you have lost the ship running after you, recharge and reload, and go sink that DIW ship. It's an easy shot and Dönitz will like you more, if his orders for your time period is to attack the escorts with the acoustic torpedoes. Approach quietly, he will hear you approaching and might call the other ship to chase you again.

i believe the time before a destroyer leaves without contact is 30 mins? but yea as stated above if he can hear you via asdic he aint going to leave you alone, that includes running out of DCs as well. They will just run patterns over you. depending on the year and destroyer 140M is always a good depth to evade at.however if you are feeling super brave you could float your way to periscope depth and torpedo that 2nd destroyer running rings around you(so long as he is far enough away)

Thanks for the tips I ran away from DIW ship with full speed at 80m (I couldn't go deeper because I would hit seabed ), changed bearing so I could attack this ship from side, than quickly went to periscope depth, sent one torpedo than immediately dived back to 80m, shot decoys, made couple of slaloms and finally escaped from second ship
No more acoustic torpedoes on two military ships swimming together

And also not so shallow depth too I suggest. 80 meters is the crashdive depth. If you hit that button, you might not level out without scratches. Give yourself some room to dive!

Ran into something similar near Scapa Flow. 3 destroyers and I was in a Type-II. It took me three hours of evasion to reach Scapa. Best U-boat for evasion?
