Default Silent Hunter Frog Jumps

When SH3 was launched and then SH4, people said they didn't want or need SH4. They eventually went to use SH4, when SH5 came along, people said they would not use SH5 nor needed it, they slowly went to use SH5 over time. Now people are saying they don't want SH6, but if we will see SH6, these people will eventually jump in to using SH6 too.

Why do people do these frog jumps?

People say things they don't mean all the time.

Wish another company would try making a WW2 Uboat sim.......just to see. Sure its a limited market....but its a sim/game thats remade every 6-7 years anyway. I havent played SH5....but now that its cheap...sure i'm going to buy it and give it a shot. But after SH3....I told myself I would never buy a Ubi game straight off the shelf when it came out. I love Uboat sims too much not to play it...but I still think game play and realism wise...we still have alot left. No one can say they've seen everything they want from a Uboat sim. I still think there is another level of Sim we havent seen yet.....it just takes some stuborn sim makers to make it....there was a huge boom in the early ninties in PC Sims....I think we've plateaued. Sure Graphics are night and day...but actual realism hasn't really changed alot. Thats my plug anyway.

To your argument...yeah..I people get pissed when promises of production dont live up to real world expectations....games buggy and not tested enough before release. So naturally the "fool me once" mentality kind of sets in and people dont like being let down. On top of that...by the time a new Sim is released...the pervious version is such a refined game due to Mods (where would we be without them??), people are a little reluctant to Start over when they have a decently functioning Sim. So...why buy now when I can wait six months, buy it for 1/4 of the price, and besides...due to New Mods...you'll have to keep starting over when you Mod it. Some will say that you must buy it new to support the Market for this type of Sim...so that it makes it more likely for future installments. Point taken...but no other company has made this Sim in awhile either!?! Unfortuatly only a demand from a younger crowd...away from a FPS or consol will work IMHO. Hard to say if that will happen.....our appetite for WW2 stuff in general is decreasing...especially as our grandparents of that great struggle slowly pass on.

There are 3 problems with the silent hunter series.

1: They never finish a game.

2: When they jump back to coding a new uboat game, they have forgotten all the demanding details a uboat game demands. A game like this takes total dedication to make it playable, it is not just another first person shooter.

3: When they make a new uboat game, perhaps some of the old programming crew have abandoned the company replaced by fresh blood and they don't really know where to improve the game details.
