Yep MMO. I'm not sure I like the idea, unless there are free servers. But if that's the way it is, then: "So be it, Jedi!"

It's being developed by BioWare, so it probably won't suck. KOTOR 1 was awesome.

KOTOR2 was awesome as well...until you got to the end

Hopefully TSLRP will be released soon enough to fix that...

Yeah, Kotor 2 wasn't bad. But it wasn't developed by Bioware, Obsidian received permission to use Bioware's engine. One of the infamous bugs in that game was "Swoop bike racing on the ceiling" , and surprisingly it got introduced after installing the patch :P .

Really looking forward to the MMO though. SWG was epic fail after they made some dumb updates.

The real problem with KOTOR 2 was the massive amount of cut content, including the infamous HK factory on Telos (You can actually find the door to it when you go down to the surface in the beginning, though it's unopenable) and a ton of ending material

I still consider SWG's NGE (A ridiculous acronym, coming to think of it) as one of the wores't updates ever made to a game in history

SWG NGE sucked bawls big time. I played a 2 week trial of that poor excuse for a SW game.

That trailer kicks ass, downloaded it myself from Game Trailers yesterday.

I never even made it to NGE, I played prior to JTL but once a game decides it is going to try to be two games at once, writing is on the wall and I left. Glad I did from all the accounts I have heard of that game since.

I am glad that this one is not SOE however, and the KOTOR theme in an MMO will be outstanding.

@d@rk51d3: I have heard nothing of course but I can virtually guarantee you there will be no "free" servers. I have never seen an MMO that has pay, and free ones with anything close to the same ruleset... why would anyone pay if that were the case?

I liked KOTOR but thought it got a bit too much credit. It was basically just a retread of every retarded "Zomg must find Sith Longjohns of DOOOM" story the EU loves to write over and over again.

BTW, every time I hear fatty nerds whine "KOTOR was what the prequels should have been" my ears bleed. Lets face it, if the "fans" controlled Star Wars each of the prequels would have 4 hours of mindless technobable, pretentious storytelling, leet comp haxxorz, and tons of EU referances nobody other than them would care about.

I disagree. Its because of the fans games and movies exist. With out us there is not future for these items.

Some companies choose to listen while other don't give a rats behind about there fan base.

Many ideas from fans can help the writers build on a cool story. Editors then can tweak the story better so there isn't soo much techno babble.

Also you have modders who make games better. Us fan "modders" want to improve on the basic core game. If your statement was valid what would SH3 be like now? Can you imaging playing with out the mega mods?

I think part of what makes the Star Wars universe so interesting is the extensive technical information and the EU, but then, I'm one of them "fans"

Sorry, but the Star Wars movies were all seen and paid for mostly by casual fans of the series IE: people who don't care about the EU. Where do you think these movies get their millions and millions of dollars of income and ticket sales from?

I'm still laughing at the fan nerds to this day who were angry Lucas didn't "insert EU referance here" as if anybody cares about some obscure class of Star Destroyer other than them.

These hardcore series "fans" have convinced themselves they're better at Star Wars then Lucas is and that's just hilarious. Considering 90% of EU writing essentially boils down to "dur jedi/sith wank".

The point of the EU was to expand the universe. But in practice it never does that. What it consistently tries to do is 1up George Lucas. Ohhh Lucas has jedi but look we've get teh BULLET DODGIN Jediz zomg!!! Hey, how else can we ignore continuity with the main series? Rip off the Matrix for bonus points!

What i'm trying to say is that they do the exact opposite. Novels and book series written *never* expand on the universe. They just write "maor jedis".

You know Wolf, one of these days you should try and interprit something I say correctly.

Very true. Its about money. Always is.

It matters because the fan appreciates the fantasy made by the creator and team. So they would like to add. Some times Creator and team uses fan ideas... with or with out permission.

Why not? Who made Lucas a god above mortals?

So EU makes a alternate Starwars universe. It appeals to a fan base? If there happy why not. Lucas targets majority of the masses. Fan's target each other. Sometimes there ideas are amazing and other times well.. your right... they shouldn't be applying there ideas.

maybe its repeditive for some this eternal battle between jedi's and sith's. But this is starwars. It would be nice to have a story with tramp freighter captain flying in the universe smuggling while avoiding the politics. Or a bounty hunters life? who knows...?

I understand your bordem with the repetitive never ending midi-clorian battle in the universe. My dark side is refusing me to understand your statement... My feelings are clouding my judgment... :rotfl:

Cheers dude and may the force be with you.

Some of the people who paid to see the prequels are huge Star Wars fans who prefer not to encourage the continual watering down of something they think is cool by indulging the hackish, ill-conceived nonsense that is the Star Wars EU...alas, if only the prequels hadn't ended up doing the same thing, if not to the same extent.

That said, KoTOR and KoTOR 2 were like fresh air. Both had more thought behind them than any Star Wars novel since the original Zahn trilogy.

The game looks cool; I do wish they wouldn't have done the same old, same old Jedi crap with the trailer, though.
