When I crash dive in shallow water, or order a depth below the sea floor, the sub just levels off. Any mod to change this?
I am the captain, if I want to slam the boat into the ocean floor, I think my crew should follow that order. Plus, it adds another thing you have to think about as captain and I like that chaos. Any help is much appreciated. |

On the 3d model there is a bit that you can't see jutting out the bottom of the boat (TDW calls it a 'bone') that makes the sub sit a few meters (visually) above the seabed. TDW has tried to fix this so the actual keel will sit on the floor but I don't think he has succeeded yet. Big emphasis on the 'yet'.

Yes , there is a bone in the model , but it´s not only this. Some collision detection and spheres radius have to be modified to allow the sub stay at the bottom.

Is this similar to SH3 where if you sat at the bottom you continuously took hull damage?

I am a bit confused, there is a mod for this, or it's just something you can't do in SH5?

There's been a recent debate over this issue in the thread about TDW's GR2 viewer. Check it, starting with TDW's answer to my questions:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=414 I also provided there a link to an older attempt to fix this odd behavior. And yes, there is more than just the bone. I shortened it, and the behavior still exists. The only real step forward in fixing it was made by - who else? - TDW, and involves manipulating the damage spheres of the sub. |

Yes, I did, and I was able to replicate precisely the behavior you achieved last year, when you devised the fix. Doing a U-turn I was able to get close to the ground, the sub appeared to "sink" in it, while the echolot still reported 2 meters of water to the bottom.
As this is a hard to find (archived) thread, here it is, in case you want to refresh your memory with it: http://174.123.69.202/%7Esubsimc/rad...d.php?t=169382 All in all, your file is the closest workaround that was ever reached for this issue, to my knowledge. Once again, thank you for the help ![]() |
