AA and Flat Sun (again!)
I don't know what it is with this sun but it's a pain in the ass! Everytime I install Silent Hunter III and mods, I get the same trouble. And everytime I play about with the nvidia settings and eventually get it working.
I wish there was some hard fast rule on this. I always thought the flat sun was related to gamma correction in nvidia control panel, but now I have nothing turned on, just AAx4 and again I am suffering from flat sun. And applying the relevant mods flat sun fix seems to make no difference. Urrrgh!

Do you use Nvidia Inspector or Nhancer to tweak your graphic settings? Best regards. Fubar2Niner |

I've used nhancer in the past. However, I just installed it to see if it would make a difference to the sun and it won't run now. Or at least, the main window won't open.
I have nvidia Inspector installed already. I take it I can achieve the same thing with this?

I've never had the sun with a halo in SH3 with either of my 2 cards 8800GTX and current 9900GTX. Interested to find out if you get it sorted.

I always get it sorted... but it always takes an age faffing about.
@Fubar2Niner looks like your settings are stock. No AA or anything enabled in that screenie. I know because changed items appear in black. Also, you have a heap more options than I do right now so I'm gonna check for an updated version nvidia inspector.

Are you drunk at the helm?
PS. If I'm gonna let nvidia inspector control the video settings, what should I have nvidia control panel set to? 'Let the application decide'?

I set nvidia control panel to 'let the 3D application decide' and nvidia inspector works like this (my settings in nvidia control panel are stock).
The halo is back. I set exactly the same option in nvidia inspector as I did in nvidia control panel (4xAA & overide the application setting). So, to conclude it seems it seems the issue is fixed just by applying AA with the 3rd party software rather than nvidias. I see you have 8xAA set in nvidia inspector! Now, I have to try this... I never had more than 4xAA working before.

Fubar2Niner
Mate, I think your nvidia control panel might still be doing the work. I just set my nvidia inspector same as yours and as expected, the flat sun returned (because AA is above 4). I think you need to go to 'adjust image settings with preview' and then choose 'let the 3D application decide' in order for nvidia inspector to be given free reign. I could be wrong, but it might be worth checking.
