Default SoCal power outage

My wife is in SD right now visiting family and I just got a text from her that the power is out for alot of the city. Checking online it looks like it is huge.

A major power outage has spread across San Diego County and the West, from south of the Mexican border to Orange County and east to Arizona.

When you restrict yourselves to producing a finite amount of electrical power, but at the same time, have a figuratively infinite demand for electrical power, someone is gonna lose.

Actual demand was pretty close to forecast demand, both well below available resources.
