Newbie to SH3

Ahoy Captains,
I'm new to SH3 but have been playing SH4 for about a year. I'm looking forward to sailing the Atlantic and Modding the Game to it's fullest. I'll be asking lots of questions.

I hope you brought the latest Version of SH3 thats StarForce free and has 1.4 patched.

It's available at Amazon for $6.38 as of today.

Installs right into Win7 64bit smooth as silk.

I feel ripped off, I paid 9.99$ here on base in Kabul, but true it comes with SH2 also. Mine was patched to 1.4 out the box.

Well, I'm not sure if it's 1.4 or not. I have Win7 and it installed and booted with no problems. I say I'm not sure because I got some kind of package deal and all I can remember is that I got Sh4, Sh3 and SH2 at the same time. I'm not really bothering with SH2 as I can't even locate it.
I've been playing SH4 for so long that I'm used to the graphics in that game. Now I want to get SH3's graphic's as best looking as possible.
The downloads section shut me down last night after 3 downloads, but I would like to try and get that MOD that enables better resolutions.
Tell me, anyone, what MODS you suggest for eye candy. I'm really into making the graphics as real looking as possible.

PS: Whats the best way to know if I'm running 1.4?
PPS: Does this game run without the disc inserted?

For the game version, I believe it's in the right bottom corner of the mainmenu or options menu.

As for mods,start with GWX 3.0, then add some smaller mods to your own liking.

1) If you just bought it and it was bundled with the other games then it is almost certainly able to run without the disc.

2) If the loading screen says 1.4 then it will run without the disc.

3) Take the disc out and try it. If if runs then you know.

Does GWX 3.0 give the x-tra interior graphics as well ie; the x-tra rooms like the FM interiors mod does??

No. GWX was finalized and finished long before Flakmonkey did the NewInteriors mod. There are a great many newer mods that GWX doesn't have, which is fine because most of them are compatible and install easily using JSGME.

What do you suggest for the interiors. I tried to get the "Blue Interior for FM Interiors" mod but the File Site is not letting me download the file. Or there is something going wrong anyway. I'd like to get the best interior mod possible. If you have any suggestions for interiors (x-tra rooms ect) please tell me where they are.

I just got back to playing SH3 after almost 2 years off. Loaded up GWX3.0 and having fun again!

However I see this interiors mod and it looks awesome! I can't seem to find much info on it though in the main thread. I am assuming it is compatible with GWX 3.0? Also, what rooms have been finished?
