Default The Perfect Video Game...

Well, guys, I'm sure we've all tossed the idea around in our heads. What if you were given the opportunity to create your own video game? What would it be like? Would it be The Revolutionary War meets Star Wars? Would it be a total immersion WWII simulator? 3D virtual reality helmets?

Post your ideas here...

I'd cross Silent Hunter 4 and 5 with IL-2 and T-34 vs Tiger, along with the best of the WWII first person shooters. It would be a multi player total immersion WWII simulator. When you came under aerial attack in your submarine, it wouldn't be planes flying over level, dropping bombs. It'd be a Val diving in at 70 degrees strafing, and aiming bombs to near pinpoint precision.

If you were in a plane, every facet of weather, temperature, and pressure would affect your flight and attack.

That's just my idea. What are yours?

For me, battles have to be battles
thousands of players battling it out on a WOW like server

I am sick of games like Battlefield 1942, with 10 players per side and calling it "D-day"

An interactive WW2 bomber flight sim, where players form crews, crews form squadrons, squadrons form bomb groups. For solo players, life as an escort pilot or interceptor. Europe or Pacific. Crew members in your aircraft can hear and speak to only each other and you, pilot can speak to other aircraft in the squadron as long as the radio operator is at his post. Bombardier/Togglier has the responsibility for bombs-away! Navigator should be updating position frequently so no one gets lost if they're forced out of the formation.

But mainly, the experience of 8-10 players in a bomber, sharing each others' fates. That's what I'd do.

You can do that (minus the radio and navigator thing) in IL-2 co ops, but yeah, it isn't the same

Ever heard of World War II Online? Granted, it has no submarines and the naval warfare is pretty shallow as a whole, but it's very close to what you're talking about.

For one, id start with an all-out compete battleship sim. Your the captain, you need to keep your men happy, fed, the ship well-maintained, fueled up, and ready to fire. Things like mechanical malfunctions can and do happen, and things like men overboard ect happen, heavy weather. stuff like that.

WWII era, but not accurate, as in the missions and involvement will be changed obviously to make the battleship have more things to do than what it did.

SEcond, i want a FPS/tactical game. Players choose the layout of their base, what, who, and how many is in the base, and whats in the base. They are tasked with certain missions, such as assault on a heavily defended insurgent mountain, and you task what the battle plan is, you direct your troops beforehand, and if the game's AI is good, then they will actually follow your orders and do what you tell them to. However you will also be on the battlefield, fighting and gunning like you would in a normal FPS, but realistically, like ArmA. You have to be able to expect the unexpected, be able to change the plan and face new threats accordingly, and know when to pull out.

co-op would be people taking up different roles. you cannot win, at all, without teamwork. In a tactical situation where you have to insert by helicopter, 4 guys get the ride, one guy flies, and 2 guys fly air and ground cover in some F-22 raptors. now that same heli pilot has to circle the battlefield and pick up the wounded and the crew, and must make the call if its safe enough to land.

That would be incredibly awesome. Except for the idiots who might play the game, and intentionally sabotage the mission ect. maybe there can be a votekick button, and when someone is acting stupid they can kick him and the computer takes over.
