patches & JSGME

Thank you for the info on the patches. Now how do I go about with installing mods? There is no JSGME in the game

You need to download and install JSGME yourself. Check this thread for instructions on getting it working.

Once you have it installed, installing mods is easy.

Hello,

I have the retail version EU (purchased immediately after sh4 was released). What patches are available, is 1.4 the latest one ? I keep reading about 1.5...what exactly is it ? Thank you

That's the latest patch - aka "U-Boat Missions".

Almost every mod is buildt upon this, worth every cent. But it'll probably be easier to find a Gold Edition, which is 1.4 incl. UBM.

Can I still use for example TMO or other mod (unless specified that is absolutely needs 1.5 aka U-boat Missions) by just using my own installer and patching it to 1.4 ?

Another question, is 1.4 patch cumulative ? Thank you,

Yes, you only need 1.4 - and no, mods must to be specific for 1.4 to run properly.

Have a look here for very cheap Gold Editions of SHIV http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=178757

Jan, I just got 1.5 and will be upgrading. Are you saying that TMO and other Mods are 1.4 only? Or can I still run TMO on 1.5??
Thanks

Just the opposite. Most mods now are made for 1.5. There are some older versions of TMO, RFB, etc. that were made for 1.4, but they will not work on 1.5.

Some of the older mods will work on 1.5, though. Simple sound and graphics mods might work, but use at your own risk.

if i download the uboat missions from ubi.com to add to my retail version of SH4 will that get me to 1.5 status? I'm trying to get there just for the newer mods. I don't want to buy the gold edition since I bought the retail way back when.

Also, what sort of fixes does it provide and is it really worth the 10 bucks? I have absolutely no desire to captain a Boot.

That would be it.

It's been so long since I've run SH4 without it that I can't even remember what it changes. I do remember being quite happy with t though. And I've never even touched the u-boat side of it.

If you're planning on running any major mods with SH4, the add-on is needed.
