I Have Some Bad Malocchio...Another Accident

Well...for the second time this year, I got into an auto accident. In January, I hit a deer and totalled my van. Last night while driving my son and a teammate of his to their baseball game, I got hit by another car in an intersection. The light was yellow and I thought the guy was stopping and I started to go about the time the light changed red. He kept coming and tagged me in the passenger side door. Of course I was driving my new Chevy Traverse that we had bought in January.

Thankfully no one was hurt and as mad as I am at myself for wrecking the new car, I need to keep reminding myself of that. That is the most important thing. (whew..I'm tearing up on this one. I think it helps to write it out. Sorry.)

My son was shook up and pretty scared. He was on the side that was hit and saw it coming. Plus the curtain airbags on both sides of the car deployed and the smoke and dust probably frightened him a bit. The paramedics were there and took a look at both kids and said they were ok. I had to sign a release for my son and they had to talk to the other kid's mom before they could look at him.

My son was pretty quiet and weepy last night but seemed ok this morning. He went to school-they are having a pj and movie party today, and I think he would have to be pretty messed up to miss that. I'll talk to the other boy's mom today. She is a teacher at my son's school and I'll see her when I pick up my kids this afternoon.

One thing I thought was pretty amazing. With the new car we got a free trial with On Star. Within five to ten seconds after impact, On Star was on the line asking if there was an accident and if we were all right. They called the police and paramedics. That alone might be worth a subscription.

So now the fun begins dealing with the insurance company and auto body shop and bummin' a car from my sister until we get our car fixed.

Looking on the bright side of life, I get to stay home from work today and play some SH3 since I haven't had an opportunity the last few weeks. Might help me keep my mind off things.
