Default underwater

Hi,

i am working at an immersive water, underwater and night mod

i want to make the mod in 3 version: light, normal, high

I already made the water and nights

I want your opinion about (not the eye candy - i want to know the real color):

1) Atlantic underwater color in polar zones

2) Atlantic underwater color in temperat zones

3) Atlantic underwater color in tropical zones

All the colors for underwater and water are not static... the color of water and underwater will change related at: night, day, weather, climat zone, depth etc... and also will be diferent version of visibility and impurity: none, normal, high

tnx

I didn't realize water color/visibility changes with climate zones. Nice effect.

What I wish we had the ability to do is change color/transparency based on how close to shore you are or how shallow the water is. I think ports and water close to shore should be murky and darker in color while water far out to sea should be clearer with high visibility. I know that's not possible though so here is my recommendation based on no scientific data or facts.

1. "bluish" and clear

2. "greenish" and less clear

3. "blue/greenish" and more clear than temperate but less clear than polar

EDIT: Will this replace Real Environments or be an addition to it?

i can not control the impurity from how close we are from land or not... or from shallow of water... because of that i will make 3 version of impurity... the impurity is the same all over the place... what i can control related of the diferent factors are the color, alpha, visibility etc... not the impurity

EDIT - the mod will be compatible with Real Environment - Revision_2 by w_clear

The Watercolor for almost all Ocean/Sea changes with time of year, just like Seasons passing by on land during a yearly cycle. Also, weather patterns.

Someone is always going to say "I've been scuba diving there and the color was blah blah blah. I have to ask, how many sport divers have you seen or heard of, diving in bad weather in the winter time. For that matter, how many sport divers go diving Mid Atlantic? I ask because the water color changes dramatically from shore to open sea. I have only ever seen 1 diving in bad weather during the winter. Normally, sport divers dive on a nice warm day with calm clear waters. That same clear water, can turn pitch black 20 meters down the next day if a storm rolls in.

All you can do it try to get colors as close to a average for each climate zone that people will like. Manybe even include information on how to adjust the color allowing people to adjust to the environment to their own taste.

It is not a secret as i told you before... the underwater color can be controled from envcolors.cfg and from colorsfilters.cfg

In the envcolors.cfg the lines for underwater color are very sugestive and you can not miss it :
here you must to use an RGBA color

UnderwaterFogColor=1F353F00
UnderwaterUpColor=71C2C00
UnderwaterUpAlpha=0.500000
UnderwaterDownColor=1131600
UnderwaterDownAlpha=0.800000

from filters you must to play with the RGB value

The visibility and light can be controled also by fogparameters.cfg... here are numbers and you must just to play with those numbers... have not a clear ideea what they are doing

the impurity can be controled from the impurity.dds

also you can modify a bit the scenes.dat

So put toghether all this factors and build the underwater that you like

You see?.... nothing is hidden on subsim

OK firstly I have had a couple of beers as I am typing this! lol but I have to say. Stoianm, your modding and your videos and tutorials are amazingly good.

You deserve a lot of credit. Some of the work you have done has actually stopped me giving up on this game. really.

Intensity of exposure ratio for algae at aug - sep 1997: 1997, 13.aug - 13.sept

As has already been said by TheBeast this underwatercolor changes then with the daylight, oceandepth, your actual diving depth, etc...

- The more clouds => the darker
- The lower the sun => the darker
- The deeper the ocean => the darker
- The deeper you dive => the darker
- The more algae => the greener

And one thing must be also clear, when the time/season will change then this colorszone-areas and the color will also change. This distribution of colours are pretty much accurat for aug-sept but not for jan-feb for example.

Bet at night, with no moon you can see only a black surrounding and your visibility is about 2 or 3 meters.

I decided to use as base for underwater RGBA colors like this:

1) polar 0033FF00

2)temperate 0099FF00

3)tropical 00FFFF00
i hope it will work

i am doing tests
