I think you had this in SH3, where when you sank a ship, the ship's name came up in your journal.
Just adds to things. Does this exist in Sh5? |

No, in SH5 we have ship classes only. Liberty, Victory, Ranger etc. And the ships are only big ones, that will raise your tonnage sky high. You can have in a single successful attack the tonnage had by the best uboat captains in a year. Lame, but we cant do anything about.. yet.

Elanaiba told me that SH5 would have such a function, and I've been shown a screenshot of a function in the Editor that may allow exactly that. I haven't pursued it further, partly because I don't have the game (a good reason for not looking at the in-game functions ![]() When there are more ships I will start looking into it. Quote:

A very good point. Because of the way SH3 Commander works the names can't be applied until after the patrol is over, which is just about perfect. In real life they did sometimes surface after the attack and interrogate the senior officer, and so garnered information that way, but for the most part you had to wait for OKM to examine Allied radio transmissions to find which ships didn't make port, so the names wouldn't be known for weeks, months, or even until after the war.
