Default Daphné class

I just had to share this

A Daphné class sub torpedoed my Perry Class frigate and then sank himslef with the same salvo

I have played this sim for many years and I have sank a cruise ship and the cargo ship Danny Boy Pasko ( in training accidents ) but I have never seen an A.I. sub sink himself.

I took some evasive moves that I learned from some fine people on this board but he launched from too close a range for them to be effective. As I sank I switched on "Show Truth" and saw Daphne launch a noisemaker and I knew he was in trouble

I wonder why he used 3 heavy weight torpedo's on a frigate ?

I know this was a sim issue but it was still something I doubt I will ever see again.

"You arrogant ass! You've killed us!"

Nice going. Best way to defeat an opponent is to make him shoot himself lol

I was thinking the same thing as I was in "torpedo cam" but I only thought this happened in the movies.

Some guy here told as dummy torpedo circled on them during firing exercise, and actually hit the sub from side.
It can happen quite easily, as a malfunction of control surfaces. The torpedo will simply run in circles.
I hear US live torpedoes have safety feature which disarms the torpedo if it turns more then 180 degrees after activation. I guess it must be something more complex for guided torpedoes.

They are complex but adding a safety feature just adds to the complexity.

Isnt the theory that the sub Scorpion was turning 180 degrees to deactivate a hot internal torpedo. This was only a theory and not a recent story at that. If its even true the tech and safety features may have changed since then

I think the wire guidence would have solved my story in the sim. I didnt have truth on but I also suppose the explosion of one torpedo would have destroyed the other 2
