Any idea on how to accomplish this? I tried once and nearly ran my sub aground! Got as close to the shore as I dared, but no luck. Now I simply go about my business and sink ships, with the agent along for the ride. That f**ker don't like it, he can kiss my a$$, and that's the bottom line, because Commander Stone Cold said so!

Well in theory you don't need to complete any of your objectives.. It is enough if you get renown with sinking ships so you don't get kicked from the navy..
You'll need to be going maximum of 3 knots (Less if possible, totally still is best) and you'll need to be less than kilometer away from the drop place if I recall correctly.

One trick I have found that sometimes works is to submerge to PD or as deep as you can without hitting bottom and resurface and try again. Works for me when I have that problem.
Get within 2000 yards of shore and stop. Magic

I'm gonna try again later today, but yes, I usually bag at least 20,000 tons per patrol, so I usually get awarded the Wounded Medal (Purple Heart) when I return to base. I've got seven of those so far, along with one Submarine Service Medal and one Victory Cross (Navy Cross, I'm guessing).
Warship-wise I haven't been too lucky; the biggest one I've bagged has been a Mutsuki-class DD. Shot at and actually hit an Akizuki-class with two torpedoes, but she managed to pull away and escape, albeit belching flames and listing heavily. Had I fired four torpedes at her I probably would've sunk her. Sadly enough, the Akizuki was also the biggest warship I've sighted thus far, and I'm up to 8 December 1942. Strangely enough, I've also not yet received an 'offer' for a stateside position...not that I'm complaining, mind you! ![]() -Matt
