I feel like a complete idiot making this post. However, I've got a problem that I can't seem to solve, and doesn't appear to be in any of the documentation with SH4.
In short, I like external views, and the [Free Camera] function works in my game. Unfortunately, I can't seem to lock the view on my sub. The FWD, BACK, LEFT, RIGHT, RAISE, and LOWER CAMERA keys work. But I want to lock my view on the boat and "ride along". Have I missed something simple? Is there a mod? Take pity on an old submariner ...

To my knowledge there is no such mod to let you just ride along with your boat. There are people here that know a lot more than I do, maybe they have something.
The best you can do is load up one of the supermods and use the bridge view, you can move the view around the boat with the arrow keys for left/right and forward/ back. In TMO the Page up and down move the view up/down. Problem with that is you must move the captain back to the right place on the bridge or else you stay where you were. Magic

Hit . on the keyboard? Or am I missing the question?
That tracks your sub and lets you rotate around it and zoom in and out... is that what you're asking? ![]()

The only thing I know of is to use the <> arrow keys to view your boat externally from a constant bearing. From there, you can zoom-in using the up/down arrow keys. You can also view other radar/sonar contact with these <> arrows. Not sure if this is what you're referring to.

To everyone else, thanks for the responses. If nothing else, I'll do the bridge view thing.

CGS was right, the . (period key) locks the cam on the sub if you have cams enabled. Works playing TMO anyway, not sure about RFB

I play RFB. The ">" key will give you an external view that moves with your boat. It gives you something to do during the boring parts of the patrol.
