Default Total bordel.

I am having a complete nightmare trying install Grey Wolves.

I am running Windows Vista, when I try to run the Exe. file for GWX, it says it needs to be run under Win 32? I have trawled the internet for a way to open it and none have worked.

Any help would be highly appreciated camarades.

@frigate23

Tried looking here shipmate ?

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=105144 ?

I take it your OS is 64 bit ? Do you have SP2 installed ? Also try turning off UAC, if your not sharing your box. This will avoid any administrator hissy fits.

Best regards.

I have SH3 GWX in W7 64, without problems. The folder of installation is: C:\SH3

Don´t install the game in "Program Files" (for 64 bits only); in "Program Filesx86" it works, but, for avoid problems, install in C:\SH3

For GWX, try with XP compatibility, and select the folder C:\SH3.

Regards.

Many thanks to both of you, I deleted the files in the end, they were not recognized by my PC for some reason. I am attempting to dl via torrent atm, although doesn't seem to be going very well either. Really pissing me off now, is it really worth getting?

When you finish downloading, make sure the .exe file for GWX is actually named GWX3.exe (or whatever, the important thing is that the '.exe' is at the end of the filename).

There were problems in the past with FileFront not appending the file extension onto the download for the .exe file, which meant it would not open once it was saved to the end user's computer even though there was nothing wrong with it except for the missing bit of filename. Without the file extension Windows cannot recognize it as an executable and run the installation program included in it.

If the .exe extension is missing, just rightclick on the file => Rename => add the .exe extension to the name.

I assume you are downloading from Jimbuna's FileFront site? AFAIK that is currently the only place guaranteed to have uncorrupted versions of all the necessary GWX3 files.

The Torrent worked like a dream, installed perfectly and, by god, its incredible! Cannot beleive that something so accurate and better developed than the stock game can be free!

I'm learning the ropes of everything atm, but yes its a very easy way of passing time!

...and now you can install diverse mods for GWX, and your game will be better...

Good hunting!

I'm doing a campaign with 2nd Flotilla out of Wilhelmshaven, on 4th Patrol atm, 22nd November 1939, sitting outside Loch Ewe, sank one A&B, 1 J&K and one stubborn V&W which took ages to go down, 6 hours later the bows are still defiantly afloat ablaze. 1 eel each. I haven't been located at all. Currently waiting to see if anything interesting and bigger comes by.

BdU - Standby for report...
