"No map contact update" option issue

Hi All,

My first post here I've just started playing Silent Hunter 4 and am having an issue with getting this option to work. If I do the tutorial, and turn on "no map contact update" in the options, it works. I don't get a link on the map pointing me to the ship. But as soon as I try do it in career, it doesn't work. I always get a line on the map pointing me at my target.

Does anyone know what might be causing this to occur? I wanted to try the game with all options to realistic except fuel...just can't get the contacts on the map to stop showing.

What version of the game are you running? Stock version 1.5 (Gold w/U-Boat expansion pack), RFB or TMO?

I'm not 100% sure. I got the game on Steam....big mistake I'm sure. It has the Uboat expansion installed as the load screen is the Uboat missions screen. But I am not 100% sure how to check what version I'm running. I can't find in the options anywhere.

Though, in readme.txt it says: "4. Changes in Addon (v1.5)"

So I think I'm running v1.5?

OK, I might be wrong here (wouldn't be the first time) but, in the stock version "No Map Contact Updates" (I think) simply means that you will not get any ship icons appearing on the screen. Your sonar lines will still appear (unless you're running RFB where even sonar lines don't show up). I've never had the necessity to look so I'm not sure if there are any mods that remove these sonar lines. If you poke around in the "Downloads" section, you might just find something appropriate that's compatible with you version.

For a campaign you have to select the options again when in your office on campaign on the left hand side is a radio click on that then click on Gameplay options and you then be able to turn off limited fuel and map contacts

Ah, yes, Rbaker1989 is right. An important point that I totally forgot about.
