Default Error Cant Connect issue - specific question

Hi everyone - first time post - Been an avid SH3 player for a while - I finally decided that SH5 + mods would be a more than worthwhile investment.

Having purchased the game off steam and downloaded a heap of mods... I thought I was ready to go.

However after creating my ubi.com account and clicking to login - i get the 'cant connect to Ubi master server.. please verify internet connection and try again'

I searched on here and other forums.. and ticked off all the common problems with such a complaint... no proxy... firewall disabled (even uninstalled Comodo) - ubilauncher given admin rights - hosts file checked and aok - windows fully updated... etc and nothing helped.

I then looked at the ubisoft launcher and came across the launcher.log.txt file, the last entry on this log said "Unable to decode users password." so my question is this - will this be causing the unable to connect error? and if so is it something I can alter client side or is at Ubisofts end?

Im pretty eager after waiting all this time to play SH5 - so any help appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read this.

Make sure you are using the correct password for your UBI account to log in. Passwords are case sensitive..... Capitol and small letters will mess with your logging in.

@GT - yeh that was one of my thoughts - but I logged into ubi forums - with the user/pass to ask a question - it allowed me to log on their fine.

@sober - whether I load through the game folder or steam or desktop shortcut - it goes straight to the logo loading screen (the little square box with the periscope etc ) then it goes to the ubilauncher screen - when I click to login - i then get the error message.

Thanks for the replies.

EDIT - on the orbitdll launcher log (unside the Ubisoft launcher folder) - well my log looks exactly like this guys :- (and I am definately not on a proxy)

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1121062387/m/5971005268 -

The only difference being his just hung there while mine gives the error message : - these are the last 6 lines of my orbitdll launcher log

Issue solved -

apparently the ubisoft launcher corrupted itself when updating via steam - resulting in it not reading my password correctly.

Downloaded complete version from ubisoft direct - uninstalled old steam version and placed new version in its place and its all working sweet

Thanks for the replies.

That's great you got SH5 to run. Also proves that Steam is not all it's cracked up to be. I had a Steam account that worked only when it felt like it, so I dumped it and vowed never to use Steam again for anything..... except a sauna.
