Default GWX3 Back to square one.

I need some help.

After a crash some weeks ago I lost SH3 + GWX3 and had to reinstall it. However I was unable to load GWX3 for some reason, although I'd d/l the files I could not get the exe file to run. Eventually through the good offices and generous help from Jimbuna who sent me the files on disk I got things running.

Unfortunately I installed a mod via JSGME, but didn't like it so I removed it. Nothing has worked since then.

I have uninstalled everything of the old SH3 including folders, cleaned my registry, disk cleaned and defragged and defrosted the freezer.

I've reinstalled SH3 and patched to 1.4b.

No matter what I do when I try to 'run' the GWX3.exe file, from whaterver source, Jimbuna's CD or the folder into which I d/l the eight files I am asked what programme I want to use to open it. I have a choice then of all the progs on my PC from Adobe, Media Player to Word and Notepad. It's as if the exe file is just a text one.

I have gone through this whole process several times today and I'm at my wits end. Seriously cnsidering sticking with GWX2.

It has been a long frustrating day. I may have to do a Captain Oates and go for a walk outside whilst at 100mtrs.

Is there any way to make the exe file autorun?

I did see a programme on torrent for a singlefile install but it just would not download.
