You are saying that because you didn't had a cartoon show on tv that the majority of the cartoons was from the soviet block...
And this one was a bit normal, I saw weirder ones. Of course there were also good happy ones. And from time to time, some western animation was also show, mainly looney toons/merry melodies!

I truly enjoyed the animation, believe me, but only after I watched it twice.

I was so dumbfounded the first time I wasn't totally aware of everything.

@ Rhodes, It was a start of a "In soviet russia" joke, merely because the date was 1989 and the credits are in cyrillic.
