Nature does some strange things. Blue crab scuff out also but the soft shell blue crab is a delicacy.

<shrugs> what is so scary about it? its just a crab shedding it's old skeleton, crabs do that all the time.

I agree. I think it is a beautiful thing. Nothing in nature is scary.

Well maybe camel spiders but they are from another planet.
