I've just had a problem renaming my sub in SH4. I've done it before, a few months ago. I forgot where the files are to rename it, and even after an hour of scouring the file, I still can't find it.
Help, please? Where are the files? ![]()

The files your looking are in DATA/ROSTER/NATIONNAME/SUBMARINE/SUBNAME.CFG
It will list the subs names, textures and dates of service in this file.

There are MANY threads on this subject. Try the search function. But I will toss you a freebie.
In Vista, go to: user/documents/sh4/data/cfg/Savegames All your saved games are there. Find the folder with your current sub & open "ActivePlayerUnits.upc" the very Top will look like this [UserPlayerUnit 1] ID=Gato NameDisplayable=Gato Class Submarine UnitName=USS Gato (SS-212) <--- Edit here UpgradeClass=2 Type=Gato UnitInterval=1941-12-31 00:00:00, 1967-06-01 00:00:00 ExternalClassName=SSGato Nationality=American Evolution=Normal Damage=0.000000 TextureName=data/Submarine/NSS_Gato/NSS_Gato_T01.tga LightmapTextureName=data/Submarine/NSS_Gato/NSS_Gato_O01.tga NormalmapTextureName=NULL MenuSilhouetteTextureName=Gato_Class_01.tga MaxOfficers=14 MaxPettyOfficers=52 StartUserPlayerUnitMissionDateTime=1941-12-06 10:00:00 CurrentUserPlayerUnitMissionDateTime=1941-12-06 10:00:00 SilentState=false __________________ You also need to change the entry in the CareerTrack.upc file here-->>(at the end of the file) [CareerTrack 1.CareerStatusSave 60] ID=ID Reason=CSS_OfferNewCommand NameDisplayable= CurrentDate=1943-06-11 13:59:16 OfferedUserPlayerUnitIDLink=Gato [CareerTrack 1.CareerStatusSave 61] ID=ID Reason=CSS_NewCommand NameDisplayable=USS Bowfin (SS-287) <----EDIT HERE CurrentDate=1943-06-11 13:59:16 UserPlayerInstanceDisplayableName=USS Bowfin (SS-287) <----EDIT HERE UserPlayerUnitIDLink=Balao You find this entry at the end of the file itself; be sure to save right after you are assigned a new sub. If you remember to alter this line, all your subsequent medal citations will read your new sub's name. ![]()
