Default Bug! Starting position in middle of map :(

What to do? I fo use gwx 2.0 with commander. After month long (game time) repair in Bessen game does put a sub in middle of world map, on gulf of Guinea instead Bessen. In did abandoned and restarted patrol many times - no effect.

just gotta try to load that save again
sometimes you may even have to go back a save

save early, save often.

Thanks! My old habit saving the game after battles and before docking saved my career, loading earlier save, just before docking cured it. But still very annoying bug, potential career destroyer.

I remember reading about this in another post, it puts you at 0 Lat and 0 Long but I can't find the post to explain. Could it be you started without commander, saved, and then reloaded save in commander? Or vice versa?

Or I could be talking tosh, in which case feel free to ignore me!

It is a stock bug and nothing to od with either GWX or SH3Cmdr. It happens when the game cannot determine your starting base and is sometimes triggered by refuelling from a milch cow then saving. Simple solution is usually to go to the previous save and start again.

This thread explains a bit more:

@Vipper

Why not upgrade your installation from v2.0 to v3.0?

There is a lot more to see and fear in the latest version
