What is that thing?

I have been lovingly exploring every inch of my Type VIIA U-boat and am familiar with most of the large items inside and outside of her. However, I do not know what that large object is, within the command center, that is just to the right facing the ladder that leads to the conning tower. It's a large tank of some sort with a hatch. Could someone educate me?

Thanks in advance!

I always thought that was the housing for the attack scope for when it's lowered. It's gotta go somewhere right?

This makes sense. It is directly under where the attack periscope is situated. Cool!

I contains all the mechanical workings of the attack periscope. Gotta remember, it isn't manually rotated like the OBS scope and also has to support the users body and rotate him on the seat with it as well.

A lot of mechanical stuff associated with that scope.

It's the launch tube for the V2 rocket!

Nah, it's the attack scope housing.

You can see the escape hatches too! There is one in the galley that doubles as a way to get the hot air out of the U boat, go into the kitchen and look up.

There should also be one in the front crew berthing area or in the torpedo room, but i never looked for it. I'd kill for a mod team to make these hatches usable.
