As mentioned in this threadàhttp://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=109256
Radio Saigon is as of now airing. We play for you hits like J’attendrai by Rina Ketty, La romance de Paris by Charles Trenet, golden oldies like Paris, Je t’aime D’amour by Maurice Chevalier and many many more. We will help you to get through those boring watchhours. Tune in to frequency 122 ! Radio Saigon…this commercial free radio channel is made possible by the good taxpayers of Vichy France and the Empire of Japan Some technical stuff: This radio mod is JSGME Friendly. IMPORTANT!!!! --- Before you unzip and install please add the following lines to your radio.ini file to be found in the ~data\sound\radio map. (don't forget to make a backup before you add or change things) [CHANNEL] Name=Saigon Folder=Saigon Freq=122 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:10.30,-106.75:100000 1) Make sure that your frequencies are in the correct order (lowest first, highest last) 2) I took frequency 122 following the "Changing radio washington to many small stations" thread guideline. If however you want to change the frequency please make sure that you leave enough space in between frequencies otherwise you experience interference --- To install please unzip the file to the mods directory and use JSGME to install this mod 1) JSGME will install the mp3 files in the ~data\sound\radio\saigon map 2) All mp3 filenames start with the year in which the song was recorded. So for example the people who do not want to hear songs recorded in 1943 while they are still playing in 1942, just cut/paste the 1943 and later recording dates (included in the soon to be released volumes II and III and IV) to a temp folder and you can copy them back when you survive 1942 and get into 1943 have fun and happy listening! Thanks Ziem! This is a 'must have' for me - my skipper loves Rina Ketty and the crew are a bunch of Francophiles - For some unknown reason they all spent time in France before the war.

although the song "la mer" by Cherles Trenet is hard to beat (legend has it he wrote it in 20 minutes in 1943 while being in the train from Narbonne to Sete) I got quite a lot of the immortal guitar player Django Reinhardt....the man was already a god in France during the 30's...And yes, Radio Saigon has some of his records....
simple question...are there some sailors out there who want to listen to this king of swing? We're talking about song like St. Louis Blues and Twelfth year..... Z. ![]() |

Awesome addition to the Radio...but just one little question for History's Sake:
Would Japanese Occupation forces allow Western French Music to be played on the air in Indochina? After all one of their goals was to remove the western influence from Asia. I'm thinking that Japanese Music would be played in all the areas under occupation. Just a thought.... |

Understandable and that's what i thought too, but after reading a bit about on the www I think they were alowwed to play french music especially because Vichy france collaborated with the axis. And french indo china was still officialy ruled by vichy france so my best guess is that it was allowed. Unfortunately i do not know anybody who lived in french indo china in those days, so he/she could give us certainty. Another thing which came to my mind, did for example french polynesia have a radio station?

Also what would be a realistic range for the station, maybe like 1500sm?
