Ok, I am just wanting to make sure that my install of GTX is not goofed up. I was playing early years (1940) and even though I was close to the English shore, I had a plane other then a german one fly overhead. Now, the weather was frightful at times, but I was wondering if GTX has low amount of planes in the early years, or if my install might be goofed up on GTX.
(I installed GTX on a clean SHIII install, then installed SH3 Commander. |

Early in the war the Allies were still getting geared up for ASW, so don't expect to see much activity from the RAF. From 1943 onwards everything just goes downhill though

youll see PLENTY in 43
pretty much every convoy will have an aircraft over it within hours of you being spotted, and many convoys even have escort carriers, so you may see wildcats and such circling. it seems escort carriers are far more common to murmansk than across the atlantic. |

I'm in August 1940 and only recently have I noticed much in the way of British air patrols other than the odd one or two previously. Sailing round Scotland to get out into the Ocean though I am beginning to spot them quite a lot, generally before they spot me, thankfully.
Be careful of light levels that far north and don't do what I did yesterday and assume that as it's 22:30-23:00 (surely the flyboys wil be in bed by now) and you've no hydrophone contacts you'll be OK to surface without checking the scopes. I'm sure the two Swordfish pilots were as surprised as I was at the sight of a U-boat surfacing directly below them. Superficial damage only, but it's the last time I neglect to take a look around at periscope depth before breaking the surface. |

"We where flying along, when suddenly right ahead of us we saw a U-boat surface, we where so surpised we missed it..... Thanks for letting me know, I was getting worried that I had somehow not installed it correctly. If push comes to shove, I might just make a test of sailing towards the rock on the surface till I see planes. |

Actually this is historically correct from July to October 1940 you shouldn't see anything flying around Britain. The Battle of Britain was raging during these months and anything allied that could fly was strictly for defensive use. They would only scramble when a German air raid was in progress.
So enjoy it while it lasts because before you know it they will be all over you again.

Belive me, I do, just that I was playing in the early war years and hadn't seen a plane (while in stock SHIII, you do have spitfires and a occasional Swordfish showing up the day after the war starts) and i wanted to see if this was due to design (as GWX had thought of the Battle for Britian) or if there is a bug in the install. From what people have said, it appears that this is by design.
I dive whenever I see a warship or plane, it is the best way to stay alive since I play DiD. The only question is how deep the water is, so I know if it is a regular dive or a crash dive. |

The aircraft in GWX3.0 are harder to shoot down than any previous version to date.
If you sight a Swordfish it usually means there is a carrier not too far away. |
