cant get deck gun to fire
how do yuo use the deck gun or at least get crew to fire it

I simply telll the deck watch officer to " man the deck guns" then get within range and they do the business

I couldn't get the crew to fire the deck guns either at random points. As Ringy says using the binoculars (not the UZO) and marking the target seems to get them to wake up. In fact I accidentally marked a friendly last night and they wouldn't stop shooting at it!

Well yes you can man it yourself, that is if ya dont mind taking a walk on the deck to get there. Then just click on it, then aim and fire.
As to having it manned and fired by the crew, heck you dont even have to have it manned first. Just get the enemy ship in sight in the binoculars, put that crosshair on the ship, it turns red and then hit the spacebar and they will man it and start firing, then sit back and watch the show. Now I had reported elsewhere that to get them to stop firing, hit the spacebar again but I have since learned that this doesnt work as I thought. I dont know if it was a fluke when I got it to work before but I havent been able to get this to work as it did once. But in any case, you can unman the gun by ordering the boat to surface with "R". It's obviously not supposed to work that way, but for now it does.

I think alot of people have had problems with Gun crews, you deffinately require the morale mod fix or they wont even go on deck the lazy swabs! also remember unless you have certain mods installed, weather conditions to some extent stop you from manning the guns.
Just remember if you manualy use the deck gun and things get sticky, you have to run back along the casing, climb up the conning tower and down the hatch before you can even start to crash dive... and if you forget to look straight ahead you waste time trying to climb ladders etc... would be good if somebody could figure out how to order a crash dive while on deck and then you need to run like hell to get inside the conning tower and close the hatch before the water comes in and kills ya all now that would be realism ![]()

And getting the flak gun to shoot at aireoplanes. That is a pain to. Both times I've had to man it myself and take a few shots before the ai would take over and shoot at it. But I hadn't tried the binoc thing. I'll give that a shot and see if that works.

I usually use the binoculars and hit space...the target is locked by the men at the deckgun but i cant tell them where to aim.
I tryed to use the deckgun but its IMPOSSIBLE to aim ![]()

Aye, yes I found this also, but easier with the flak gun as it's more easily visible from the tower deck.
But lately I just use the binocs and have the crew do the shooting as those boys are gettin good. And especially good on a full stomach as I found out last night. ![]()
