Default [REQ] Footstep Sounds

How hard would it be to implement this in SHIII? After watching the SHV vids with the captain walking around in the sub, I thought it would be great if we can get some sounds of footsteps hitting metal when moving around the boat in free-cam mode!

lol, to me it just feels peculiar moving around the sub in free-cam and floating like a ghost.

Yeah missing the footsteps don't bother me at all, it's actually much nicer this way.
I bet a sound mod for SH5 will come out for people to disable it

If it were a subtle mod it wouldn't be bad. Cosmetic mods can actually be more annoying than they're worth. I prefer the visual and audio of the game in more of a Hollywood effect. I think some light ambient footsteps that can only be heard in the interior would be great. But not in any other areas than the command room and communications.

I think DD went a tad over the top with the footsteps in his vid. Clumping about like that wouldn't go down too well in silent running mode...unless the crewman took his boots off...which would be hellishly hazardous!

Besides, more seriously, noisy footwear is probably incorrect historically. Uboat shoes were lightly contructed (often canvas) with some sort of composite, or even rope, soles. Even the heavier deck boots had cork soles...although this probably had more to do with adhesion on slippery decks than sound abatement qualities.

If some sound mixing genius could come up with a suitably muffled footstep sound it could effective. But I doubt I'd hear it over the gramophone which I've usually got playing

I dont know about the footsteps from sh5 but i really want the door closing sounds, kind of makes the environment seem more solid.

I agree, openhatch sound would add quite a bit to the immersion, and some light footsteps too, imo. Not like SH5 though, I don't know why but they are somewhat tyring after some time, I guess it is the sound pitch which is fatiguing.
