Yes, I had a similar problem actually. I haven't found a way to resolve it either - although I was wrapped up in playing OM regardless and didn't really look in too deep.

Is there a chance that somewhere down the line, one of these files is corrupted? Did you download from filefront?

You mean RFB or RSRDC files?
I think they are not, at least winrar is showing no error.

Never had that kind of problems before with stock 1.5 or TMO.

I'm playing on a laptop with everything cranked down to get decent frame rates so that might be what's causing me the same problem. But I've noticed if the saved file is bigger than 3.5MB it crashes, and those saved files are where I've saved before a convoy or harbor approach with a lot of targets plotted on radar or sonar.

Im playing on maximum settings thats not the problem.
Funny thing is that last night i had a target in my scope and i saved the game. When i tried to load it target was 35km away and non of my nav map drawings were there.

I cant even find my saves, where are they in my documents?
I see a bunch of files.

If you just loaded RFB and RSRD than any saves prior to that are no good.
I see you have the game in F/Program Files/

It's best to have a separate folder for the game. F:/Silent Hunter/
Program Files causes problems in Vista or Win7.

As to the other thing about losing map markings etc. Never had that happen in TMO but did in FOTRS. For some reason it seems to save at a different point in time??? Didn't crash the game and eventually the ship came on as it did before. Strange???

I started new campaign with RFB and RSRD, i know they are not compatible.
F: partition is my separate hdd, my system is on another one.

Hm, exact same problem here. Same mods (RFB + RSRD) too. I can load in-port autosaves, but all of my mid-patrol saves crash just after the "stand by the lines..." message.

One thing I always do with saves is to go to the nav. map and pause the game before I save. Never had a bad save in 2+ years.
I seem to be one of the lucky ones.

Also I very seldom overwrite a save but give each a new number.
The only time I overwrite is if nothing special happened.

Yeah i think you are right Magic, you need to pause the game.
I deleted my saves so i couldnt try, but you confirm my theory.
