Default [REQ] need help finding something in the scripts.

I need access to the countdown time in the chronometer, it's tooltip display, and the data about the currently locked target (.ie length, mast height, etc. etc.)

I have an idea for something really cool. But just need to figure out where in the scripts to start with. I've been poking about through them and haven't found what im looking for or if im even looking in the right files.

Hopefully someone who's been pouring through the scripts and is more familiar with them may have a clue of where they're hiding.

Basically what i intend to do is add the functionality of a speed solver (like the one in my solution solver program) directly into the game.

How i envision it:

Using the length of the currently locked (and identified) ship. It will show the estimated speed in the chronometer's tooltip based on the countdown time.

So you would Identify the ship.
Start chronometer when the bow of target hits the vertical line.
Stop chronometer when the stern of target hits the vertical line.
Mouse over the chornometer and in the tooltip it will give you the estimated speed

I'll use the tool-tip initially until i figure a way to integrate it into the Weapon Officer dialog as one of the speed gathering options.

The most useful tool I use is a utility to search for a text string in all files in a directory. Extremely useful for finding things, if you know what text to search for. Both Notepad++ and PSPad have this function, as well as being nice text editors. Both are also free. I've learned many things by searching all the files for various text
