I don't like the "restock" or "refit" option in the campaign. I am sorry U-boats rarely popped into any old friendly harbor to replenish torpedos and provisions. They would either stay out for recon, or return to base for refit, and set out days or weeks later.
That being said, I decided to make myself return to base AND dock in the bunker. A warning to you all. If Ubi servers crash and you get booted, your boat will be killed by the bunker upon reload. Very VEry stupid, but there we are. If the game integrity remains while you are in the bunker, there is no issue. It is upon reload there is the bunker of death syndrome. This was the Wilhemshafen bunker, for those that want to confirm this. |

I don't refit either. Unless you're pulling alongside a Milkcow, or immitating a Gibraltar run like Das Boot, there's really no need.
Some like to stay out months at a time like Pacific boats did, but from what I gather from reading, that wasn't overly realistic for U-Boats. Especially IIs and VIIAs. At any rate, are you referring to the "feature" of the sub suddenly sinking down to the bottom of the bunker when you reload? I ask, because this always happens to me. I usually keep several saves specifically during a patrol, and a at base save which I use for swapping around mods. I've noticed the boat almost sinking on loading many times, though I've yet to actually see it happen. |
