Default SH5 Collector Edition now available for pre-order in the EU (Release March 3rd)

I just spottet two SH5 versions now available for pre-order on Gamersgate.com, being released on March 3rd. There's the ordinary version at € 49.95 , and a Collectors Edition at € 54.95 .

I think all you get in the gold edition is

manual (in pdf) and the 7 skins.

The collectors edition :-

I know, I changed the post right after I thought about that...but you were too fast to reply. Gamersgate.com offers the Collectors Edition...all the bonus stuff will be digital then I guess. Anyway, I just pre-ordered it...and I have experienced that GG releases their games a little early, so hopefully I can download it tonight.

I don't get it, why do they expect us to pay more for a download game than the actual physical boxed product with the box/tin. printed matter + discs etc, who is buying this at these prices?

If they really wanted to combat piracy Ubi and indeed all of the major publishers should sell PC games directly to the public themseslves and forget retailers altogether, at the price they normally get for a game, ie about 1/4 to 1/5 of the retail price ie about £6. Then it would be so cheap no one would bother pirating it.

The Gold edition is U.S. and Canada ONLY

The collectors Edition is not available in the U.S.

So the gold is sorta a replacement cus they cant get the collectors ed.

I think the market for WW2 submarine simulators is so small, that it wouldn't really attract more buyers if the game was cheaper. I know that I wouldn't buy the MS Crane Simulator no matter HOW cheap it was! Heh. Those belonging to the small group wanting to play WW2 sub games should pay for them, not steal them. And I really don't mind buying the digital versions, after it's been opened, the tin gamebox and all those paper maps etc just gather dust on the shelve. I pay the same for retail or digital, and digital saves me the trip to the store. By the way, the fact that something is expensive obviously isn't an excuse for piracy, if I can't, or won't, pay for a car that I think is overpriced, I shouldn't steal that either. Heh. The only approvable piracy really is German subs pounding the Allied merchant fleet...that's why I have gladly payed for SH5!

The game industry is just not as it used to be, the "niche games" that were plentiful a while ago are released more as tools than as finished games nowadays (Hearts of Iron 3!) and I suppose we should be grateful that anyone releases these games at all. It won't be long before we only have shooters and arcade stuff. Furthermore, I don't see any other games released with as much modding potential as these niche games (SH5 supports scripting!), and those tools/possibilities are definately worth the money, in my oppinion.
