hi all, newbie here, but been visiting for a while and playing sh3 for a while too. the problem is the game stuck on paused, i had the problem before when running the stock game but just used it as an excuse to upgrade to gwx 3 gold, credit where credits due lads spot on ! but now about 25 missions in and its done it again !!! any ideas ? its just the 1.4 patch and the gwx mod i am running. have tried sh4 but its just not the same, am more into the german side if you know what i mean

![]() It's hard to tell just what your problem might be without more information. Are you doing anything in particular before it gets stuck? As to SH4, yes, the U-Boat add-on is wonderful, but only with modded with Lurker's Operation Monsoon supermod. You get all the best gameplay a la SH3, and the maps include the KM grids right down to the 4-digit locations, as well as keeping the latitude and longitude coordinates. Lurker has done an outstanding job, and is still talking to people and upgrading it. The only thing that keeps me playing SH3 is the harbor traffic scenes (which I really should learn how to do instead of just complaining about it) and all the things SH3 Commander provides. I highly recommend it.

thanks for the advice lads, will try the fix just now, will also give sh4 a go with the u boat missions and the mod, but addicted to sh3 ! what does the commander mod add ?

SH3 Commander is not a mod, but a tool, and possibly the most important one to play in SH3. It has its own icon on your desktop, and you load SH3 using it.
1) It allows you to make several adjustments with just a click of a button: deck-gun loading speed, wave height, time-compression changes, days spent in base and more. 2) It creates a unique career for your captain, giving you a birth date and place, a pre-uboat career and a postwar career, all based on the lives of real kaleuns. 3) It has a database of 42,000 names of uboatmen, divided into first and last names, so you have 1.7 billion possible names for your crew. 4) It creates realistic crew transfers, so you might lose one or two men after each patrol, and have them replaced. Or not. 5) I lets you award as many medals and promotions as you wish, rather than the one each in the stock game. 6) It gives appropriate and real ship names to each ship you sink, including the cargo it was carrying and how many crew were aboard, and how many killed. 7) It has an Officer's Club you can visit, to listen to the music and hear scuttlebutt about what's going on in the war. 8) It randomizes your gramophone tracks. 9) It has a 'Failure and Sabotage' function, so you can have breakdowns at sea. Of course this can be turned off, so you don't have to use it. 10) It allows for a multitude of randomizations, so you can have things like my own 'Loading Screens' mod, which puts up a different screen every time you load the game, and adds a bunch of different band marches, so each time you leave port they might be playing a different song. 11) You can also randomize your sub skins by date, so you might be sailing out in March 1943 and find a new paint job on your boat. SH3 Commander is, to me, more important than any of the supermods. It's the one thing that keeps me playing SH3.

shaun I used to ignore SH3 commander, then I tried it, and now I can't live without it.
