The Blackhawk helicopter.
Called a transport today. Give it a tandem cockpit, and it gets called a gunship tomorrow! ![]()

More power to her. I can't really see the entire US population becoming so overweight that there won't be anyone left in good enough health to serve the country, but, okeedokee then.

Obesity is NOT a disease.

It depends. There can be genetical dispositions causing it. Then it should be understood as a disease. And when bad eating habits have caused certain physiological anomalies and organic dysfunctions, then it also can be called a disease. and when it causes additional disease symptoms of secondary degree, then it surely should be understood as a disease, too.
Saying in general obesity is no disease is like saying diabetes is no disease, or high blood pressure.

It would be a genetic disorder I believe. It is something you do not catch or develop. Speaking of which, was it not the German army pulled out on the carpet for obesity?

I minority cases it might be genetic disorder and NO you can't "catch it" that much a agree with. On the other hand you can definitely "develop it". IMO majority of obesity in the U.S. consist of bad eating habits and total lack of any exercise. Therefore I believe that it is not a disease per se but bad lifestyle.

Developing it then should be catogorized as probably an emotional disorder perhaps? Some people smoke, drink or eat when there is a stressful situation. I agree, a lot has to do with lifestyle.

Bad food, too much of what is too bad. sugar, salt, bad fats. All that makes obesity a disease. And it kills, by attacking inner organs, cardiovascular system, heart.
Genetic disposition is nnot that minor as you think, Conus. however, like diabetes it is a disease that you develope over time. Bad lifestyle favours it. You do not catch it like a flu, that is right, but many diseases you do not catch that way. Cancer for example. But whether you develope it or have a genetic disposition or both, does not really matter in the understanding of it: it is damaging to your health, and you better understand it as a disease indeed.

When I was living in Belgium, I very rarely saw a fat person compared to back home in Maryland. Why? Well, part of it is a superior public transport system. Also, Belgium is FLAT and has bike lanes next to all major surface roads w/barriers to keep drivers from flattening you.
The strange thing is I went to Jacksonville for a while, and noticed that they also had bike/walking trails next to the major roads (at least where I was), and it was flat, yet there were a LOT more fat people than back home in MD!!! And the weather is better than in Belgium/Maryland, too!!!
