With all of the drama currently going on in the Forum about the upcoming release of Silent Hunter V, some of which is valid and some of which is petulent nonsense and foot stamping, I'd just like to take a moment to say a big thank you to Dan, Mihai and the other Devs who have taken the time to visit and interract with this Forum on their own time over the years, when they are under no obligation to do so at all.
While some members here feel that they have the right to demand that certain things happen in the game and that they must be listened to, others here realize that while we have much to contribute, we are also lucky to have any access to the Devs at all, and that in the end we represent a small percentage of end users for the game, albeit a small percentage of end users who will play the game at a much higher level than any casual gamer. So, while we can debate whether more than one sub should have been included in the game, or whether the game should have ended in 1945 instead of 1943, there is no debate when it comes to the commitment that these Devs have demonstrated to the Silent Hunter franchise. Anticipating the usual 'fanboy' response to a post like this by those with room temperature IQs......guilty as charged if being a fanboy means appreciating that these guys continue to come here knowing that issues like the two I mentioned in this post are very contentious to the members here. A few here will not purchase Silent Hunter V because they are fundamentally unhappy with elements of the game. I respect that. Some others will claim that they are also not going to buy it, but in fact they will buy it as will the vast majority here. So, accepting that it is a one sub game that currently ends in 1943, I say 'bring it on' Devs. Let's see how well it plays and how modable it is. ![]() Last edited by TDK1044; 01-21-10 at 08:06 AM. |
