Increasing the torpedo loadout of an IXC via "cheating" (aka file edit)

Hi guys,

I asked this off-topic question before in a thread and one member was kind enough to help me out, but I ended up being a little confused by the various information found in the file I needed to edit.

I just wanted to know how I can increase my torpedo load in a type IXC U-Boat via file editing. I was told that I can reliably carry a maximum of 45 torpedoes without the game crashing (or something along those lines) in an IXC. Apparently I need to edit the basic.cfg file - and this is where my problem is.

I am guessing I need to edit the ammo load for my IXC per year. So below is a copy and paste from my basic.cfg file of my IXC torpedo and ammo loadout for the year 1940. What do I need to edit to get the desired maximum torpedo load? Can anyone show me what I need to do?

The reason I want to do this is because I am often encountering convoys in the middle of the Atlantic and I always feel that the default 22 max. torpedoes in the IXC is "way to small". Having more torpedoes on board allows me to stay out longer and have more "fun".

Please, please backup your basic.cfg file before making any changes, or at least make a JSGME version so you can reverse any ill effects.

It's been a long while since I played around with these values and I can't remember what the torpedo type is for some of the other torpedoes - someone will be along to inform us both.

The was also an awesome utility called 'Wolfies Mini Tweaker' or something like that that used to be on the early downloads page of subsim. Maybe someone can dig it out and upload it as it allowed you to change your torpedo layout as you wished.

The mini-tweaker is the closest thing you will find to a shortcut for this. There is nothing built in to the game. Editing the config files is the only approach.
