Idea for SH6 as SH5 too far in dev for this...

I was reading a while back about people moaning about the collectors edition (metal box) version of SH4 - I thought it was excellent tbh...but it got me thinking.

If the SH series is going to remain a simulation of WW2 subs... then I think there is ONE key thing that could massively increase both immersion and accuracy of simulation - plus something that would make a 'collectors' edition so much more valuable...

...a real STOPWATCH. And you are taught in the tutorials how to use the real stopwatch to time torpedos, attacks, plots and how to use it to dodge incoming torps etc...

SO much better than an on-screen one that only ever really seems to get in the way...

On easy levels, it's all done on the computer and you don't need to time stuff yourself to work out the attack solution etc..

On 'Realistic' level, you have to (or have the option to) do all the timing yourself and all the mental calculations that real WW2 sub Captains would have to do. Plus it would make for a great set of tutorials - real 'lessons' of the real thing!

Does this sound cool to anyone else?

Even my bussiness mobile has a java "analog" stopwatch. I've used it for a few times but since in some attacks I'm too impatient, I go to TC 4x or 8x and the real stopwatch doesn't work . What I can recommend is browsing through WW2 memoriabilia (no idea how to spell this) for german navy stopwatches. I've even seen a superb working sextant in it's original wooden box. Maybe in a few years I'll start collecting (need money first)

A real "usb-stopwatch" would be funny...

It reacts to TC and if you paused the sim and you have a real stopwatch in your hand...

It's worth a talk.
I see 2 major drawbacks though...
The main one being that a real stopwatch (mechanical, I mean) worth having would be rather expensive to produce - to Ubi (a quartz stopwatch would not fit the game so much, me thinks ).
Also let's not forget that this stuff wouldn't react to time compression, players would complain about that...

I like the idea though !

Yes, and support for Wii controllers and the Wii balance board. Then we actually have to walk to walk through the boat.
Oh, and a usb ventilator that blows wind in your face while being on the conning tower...

I already do it for a lang time. I have been using the visual target distance and speed ,AOB easier to calculate.

This is my video of the attack:

i cant see the stop watch being possible (anything worth having would be too costly to give away) but the complete collectors edition would be a nice gift pack fo xmas
