Looks like it was quite a doink there as the engine is sheared clean off the firewall !

Supprising the guy survived it.

Story says he was shooting T&G's when the engine quit on him. Couldent get it restarted and parked it in a tree /shrug.

there is only a couple of places in the traffic pattern that in the event of an engine failure you couldn't make it back to the runway.

on the upwind leg on initial climb is one of them - at least for the first 80% of the leg.

thats probably where he was when the fan quit.

I have a picture of that sign on my phone from the AMR operations office in Alexandria Louisiana - its hilarious.
