Long version: Started a new campaign in TMO and finished the first objective (drop off spy). I got the COMPLETED tag but no new objective. I radioed HQ and got a response thanking me for completing the objective and to continue waiting for further instructions or return to base.
I figured I'd head down to Java for refueling and knock off whatever enemy shipping I could en route. I happened on a convoy and took out a couple of nice freighters and radioed back to HQ to tell them of my score and report the convoy. (That's two separate radio reports).
I was told still to continue patrolling or return to base.
By now I was half a day away from the ports of Kawasaki / Yokahama and Tokyo. I timed it for a night entry and snuck in and found two carriers and the Kongo. I found no resistence inside the port so I took out the Kongo Battleship and a destroyer docked at his port side. I sneaked back out avoiding the sub hunters at the entrance and radioed into HQ when I could.
That was a mistake.
Short version: Now they tell me to advance to area 'Abandon' and patrol for 4 days. Now I've got JUST enough fuel to make it back to Midway, but certainly not enough for this mission.
Is HQ trying to get rid of me? Do I refuel first? Do I skip that mission or does skipping missions count against you?
