The best is the one incorporated in Real Fleet Boat and still under construction. Once it's completed it will be released as a stand-alone mod. Werner's mod can be used and it will work OK, but when you encounter a new target type not used at the time Werner was here, it will sink in the stock manner. No harm is done to the game though.

Alright then that sounds like a winner for now.

Can you point me to that mod pleae ?, I trie to find it but couldn't, I'd love realistic sinking rather that run out of hit points sinkings.

look for NSM 4.0, i put it in and it works for 1.5 wolves/UBM, ALTHOUGH i haven't done any UBM so i don't know if using it with that software will cause bad, dirty things to happen. So far I'm just running around in the Pacific and nothing bad has happened. I thought MAYBE NSM 4.0 was causing my graphics to mess up, but once i rolled my nvidia drivers back everything was cool. Been playing it all afternoon and evening after the roll back and everything is fine.

Somebody call the mod genie? NSM is getting difficult to find so I uploaded it to the Subsim mods area.

Now, inside the 7zip file there are two mods, NSM Lite and NSM Classic. Classic is the one you want, although Lite is still better than the explode and sink stock boats. But only install one mod or the other with JSGME.

Make sure you read the .pdf in the support directory. And you might want to read my comments in the Subsim download forum.

The link: Natural Sinking Mechanics 4.0

Have fun!

Apparently the latest nvidia driver, 190.38, was the culprit with SHIV. Been playing like a mad man since rolling back my drivers and it's doing just fine. So NSM wasn't doing it.

Very nice! The smoke following your sub around effect is the only one I'm familiar with in NSM.

Back when I played with NSM, the only problem I had was a Japanese light cruiser... I assume it was new, and not covered by NSM. Doesn't matter how many times I hit it (with torpedoes), it'd never take on water. Therefore, it'd never sink.

Beyond that, NSM was great. Now that RFB incorporates "NSM-like behavior", I'd definitely recommend it. I can't wait 'til the RFB team overhauls the warships, too.
