Default USS Torks/John Brown

Neal asked a few weeks back if I could post some pictures of the USS Torsk deck work. I also had a special treat today as well:

0700 bow of the Torsk. Wood is up and this is the work the Seabees have been doing. Welding and repairing the superstructure for the new ipe wood installation:

Seabees doing their thing!

Now the special treat for me. The Liberty Ship John Brown was across the harbor. I have never seen her in person. What a cool ship to see!

Old meets new. Brown and Constellation

Note the street light on right compared to the ship. Big ship!

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures. Next month is the last cruise down the Chesapeake for the year. I plan on going for the cruise.

Nice AVG! They have the same deal in San fransick-o. It would be fun to do a subsim meeting there, other than it is a little spendy there.

Still pretty cool pictures, even for a mobile Chris.

I was looking on someones blog the other day and there were a load of pictures of past crew and volunteers from the USS Torsk visiting the USS Becuna with 'baby JR'.

I couldn't see you though

No sir. Not that I'm aware of. That would be quite an undertaking anyway. Just getting an antenna installed up on the sail was a trial. Going up there to clean that scope would be just as nerve wracking. The scope is that clean. The first photo you will see some dust and dirt on the outer rim area. I have used it several times and it is very clean. I often wondered why some scopes in the mods are a bit dirty. I guess because looking at old black and white photos lead us to believe they are dirty. Certainly some water drops would remain on the lense when in use. But, there you have it. Original WW2 attack scope on the Torsk.

I've probably already got them.

I'm just struggling a little in trying to Photoshop some clothing on them

Yes, specially tailored trousers are had to come by especially if you are photoshopping them.
