If i understood well you question,
i guess putting the mod inside the folders as EXACTLY are the files you will replace in SH3, same folder's names and order, all from data, etc

just check any mod you've got and conferr with those on SH3

JSGME reads the next folder in from the first one. The pathway for any mod should start with the Data folder, so just put it inside another one and give it a name. The name doesn't matter, so make it something related to what the mod does, for example 'BetterPeriscopeMod', or anything of that nature.

Take a look at any mod that is already JSGME-ready, and copy the way they did it.

OK,in the game i want to use JGSME in it points you towards installing the mods in the following folder

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\My Documents\Euro Truck Simulator\mod

It mentions nothing about the "main" truck sim folder, you just unzip the mods to the above folder, the mods arent in one single folder for say,a Scania truck skin but in 2 SCS files

So "where" do i install the JGSME to?And obviously the mods need to be packaged so that they are pointed to My Documents\Euro Truck Simulator\mod?Or have i got it all wrong?

Yup, I think you've got it. Just re-create in a separate folder the folder structure that shows in the sh3 progfiles structure, starting with the "data" folder. So your mod, let's say it's called ModX ... make a separate folder called ModX. It will have a subfolder called data, and from there you have to create subfolders the same as the sh3 progfiles structure leading to the various files that are in the mod. Then you copy over your ModX folder to the Mods folder under sh3. Then activate via jsgme.

Yup i got that for SH3,but its not for SH3 i am asking about(i know its not the correct forum but theyhave no idea whatsoever about JGSME on the trucksim forum)
I only asked here as many of you more well up people on modding might be able to help me.I posted how they tell you to install mods in ETS and just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas how i might be able to get it to work. Thanks anyway.

So ETS requires mods to be installed to "C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\My Documents\Euro Truck Simulator\mod"?

If so, then the solution is easy (there's actually two solutions you could try, but this one will be the most compatible). Just install JSGME to "C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\My Documents\Euro Truck Simulator".

Run JSGME as normal ensuring that you do NOT select "mod" as JSGME's mods folder name (call it JSGME_Mods or something very different).

You'll end up with a folder structure like "C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\My Documents\Euro Truck Simulator\JSGME_MODS\"

You then simply install/unzip mods to this folder with the structure "Mod Name\mod\<files>", thus ending up a full path like:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\My Documents\Euro Truck Simulator\JSGME_MODS\My whacky-do Scania skin\mod\filename.ext".

Think of "mod" as being the ETS equivalent to SH3's "data".

All you need to understand is that JSGME is no more than a file mover/copier. You can install it anywhere in any application and for any reason. All you need to know is the folder structure and workings of the application that you want to use it with, obviously so that you can replicate the same structure in JSGME.

Indeed, I would be surprised if JSGME didn't work the "common" way with ETS as well, ie installed to the main game root/base folder and run the same way that you'd run it with SH3 (the concept is exactly the same so don't be confused by different folder names).

DISCLAIMER: My comments are based on your description of how ETS handles mods. I do not know ETS, I do not know the folder/file structure or workings nor do I offer specific game support.

EDIT: didn't realise I started my response so long ago - just noticed badwolf's comment, which is essentially the same.

Most excellent replies chaps.I will have a go and see what happens.ETS does seem to be very easy to cause CTD's and some wierd visual effects.
