I started a new career and went out on patrol in my Gato (no radar yet).
I was heading back to Midway for a refit when I picked up a warship. I turned to investigate (it was pretty close to Midway so I was thinking it was going to be allied vessel/s). How wrong was I. Here's what I spotted and ran away from (no fish left): 2 Maya Heavy Cruisers 2 Takao Heavy Cruisers 2 Destroyers. In case anyone wants to try find these guys again: Date: June 21st 1942 30N 152.2E They were traveling WSW at about 30 knots. The only mods I'm running are the excellent "New Ships and Yamato AA fix" and then some of my own which don't touch on ship spawns etc. Merely environment, fish mods for a little more reliability, and Gato/Balao mods for a little more speed etc. Oh, and thanks again for a great site. There's so much information here that I've been spending at least an hour a day reading for the past couple of weeks before I registered. Thanks to everyone who contributes! Cheers ![]() P.S. If anyone wants to contribute Spotted battleships/cruisers/carriers etc feel free because I'd love to try to meet up with them in career mode. |

![]() Nice info/idea but everything that you encounter and the date/location in SH4 is a random spawning so it will differ unless you have RSRD loaded.

![]() If you have RSRD that is supposed to have fleets and convoys show up at the "histiric" times. I dont like it myself though even in it the type of ships that appear will be random spawns.I see the randomess as a good thing because that means that you will never get the same patrol twice. Also it means that the number of targets will be high through out the war. In WWII by late 1944 the number of targets for subs began to shrink rapidly as the Japanese where being pushed closer and closer to home in last 2 years aircraft became the nubmer one ship killers as they where able to operate in larger numbers and much deeper into Jap zones. In 1945 it could be pretty slim pickings for a sub much of the time. For the first few years subs where the only thing that could strike at the heart of Japan as we got closer it became much more an aviators war though subs always played a very important role.

What is wrong with that other than there less for you to shoot later in the war? It is historically accurate that Japanese ships didn't go to far out into waters later in the war.
