Default New and need help moding

I installed jsgme into my game root folder, it works fine.

I have sh4 1.5v

I created the folder MODS in the game root folder, then tried to extract Game fixes only mod into it but i get errors saying unable to create file, its doing it for the battle_1.ogg and i cant get any other files loaded. the download worked fine, i just cant extract it. I have a new copy of winzip too.

Not sure how to get these mods to work in game, any help is appreciated.

I wonder if the problem is with windows vista? I have admin rights....I think

thanks for any help.

Did you run Winzip as an Administrator when you went to unzip the files?

That means right clicking on the Winzip icon and selecting "Run as administrator" from the list.

I put it on admin but it still gives me the same error

I tried it with real environments mod, same error.

There is something I am either doing wrong or a setting that is not allowing me to winzip the mods into the destination folder.

I have used mods before, even for sh3 years ago, and never had this problem.

If anyone has seen this or knows a fix would be appreciated because sh4 looks great and looks even better with the mods.

Oh i have one game question. If you run out of fuel at sea, is there any way to return to port or do i just start another game?

Is the directory copy-protected? Is it read-only?

This seems like the sort of error you would get if you don't have admin rights, by the way... although you said that that's definitely not the problem.

I got it to work. here is what i was doing wrong.

Vista is super particular about admin access etc.

I had to run winzip in admin mode , rt click/run as admin

Then I could not find the right mods under winzip so i had to click to show all winzip files/folders, at which point the mods i just downloaded showed up. something to do with the mods were in .7z format not .zip

I extracted them into the folders, ran the generaic mod enabler and presto... its working.

Looks great and thanks for the help guys.

Girls, do call girls 'guys'.. you know, the 'girl buddy thing'.
'Guy' is probably a generic term for 'friend'

Vista can be a pain about unzipping directly into Program Files, I found it was much easier to just put all of my games in a C:\Games folder then I never have that issue. I had some games that need to write files as they go. which they were unable to do in Program Files.

I have found that 90% of all Vista/game compatability issues can be resolved by NOT installing in Program Files.
