Default Where did all the ships go?????

Second patrol of the USS Narwhal IV. 27 Feb. 42.
73,000 tons sunk, the last two were larger freighters on the 27th. Only two torpedoes left so I headed home from Luzon area, looking for targets. Didn't find anything for more than 3 weeks, this isn't right, no ships, planes or even fishing boats. I decided to reload from the 27th. and look else where, In and around the South China Sea, 4 weeks later nothing. Reloaded again and called in for new assignment, 4 weeks later still nothing, completed 3 assignments. Reloaded again and tried to catch the Java invasion, no luck or ships, absolutely nothing. I had covered the entire area around Borneo. Called it quits and RTB.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this. 4 MONTHS patrolling and no ships or planes what so ever, like the game quit spanning them??????? Is that possible? Could it be a bad save?
I know how to patrol and find ships, shipping lanes choke points, Ports, etc.

Using SH4 1.5 with TMO 163 NO RSRD.

That's strange. I once had one patrol that I had to return to base without finding one ship, but I was completing once patrol mission after the other.
Probably had several gray stars, no ships.

That's why I chase historical convoys and TF.

That is really strange using TMO without RSRD. If you pulled near several ports and no ships were at port, really wierd.

However

However, with tonnage in a Narwhal..it's time to RTB.

I've had some long dry spells, especially in subs without surface radar. In stock they kept sending me out of Brisbane to Guadalcanal in an S-boat. I encountered lots of destroyers on the Tokyo Express run, but I could never get into a shooting position in my dinky little S-boat.

The Makassar Strait (between Borneo and Celebes) is an absolute gold mine in RSRDC, not sure about stock.

I'd grab RSRDC if I were you - it's a huge improvement over the stock campaign.

I ran RSRSC in my last career but found nothing but single ships. I try to stick to the patrol orders and not freelance too much. So I though I'd give just TMO a shot and it was very good in two patrols up to this point. 70,000+ tons isn't too bad. It just dried up, but at least I didn't loose my boat and I only had two fish left anyway so no great loss. It was just so straneg????
