Default No fuel tank - aircraft make funny noise

I have noticed that I do not seem to have a fuel gauge, even though I have realistic fuel checked off.

Also, I notice the sound of the aircraft when they attack is really odd, like a high pitched electronic sound effect. Does anybody else have these issues?

Thanks

Apples

What version of the game are you playing...is it modded in any way?

I'm playing the original DVD version. No mods. But it is patched. Do I need a mod for this?

Not sure about the missing fuel gauge, probably a bad game install, try installing it again...odd.

For the aircraft issue - if its not connected with the game in any way, check you have the latest drivers for your sound card, sometimes updating them cures a lot of issues with games, and can also provide a small performance boost in some games.

Thanks Paul, I just had the sound card installed two weeks ago. Actually, I think it's an onboard card that came with my new motherboard. All the other sounds seem to work just fine.

Ahh,I see now.

Having onboard sound on your m/b CAN cause problems with games,as that type of sound capability is what you might call 'generic' and not specialized like in a sound card, which is independant and probably tailored for the latest games.
If you have a sound card, you MUST disable onboard sound,to stop any conflicts that may be occuring. At boot up go into your Bios screen,I press F2 to go into my Bios, and find the part that deals with onboard sound, and disable it.Then reboot, and your new sound card should then take over.If you have any problems accessing or navigating your Bios screen let me know.

I find Soundblaster cards to be one of the best brands, and I currently use a SB Audigy 2 card.Have a look at some of their products

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a while since I played stock-
I believe if you click the Chief Engineer officer icon, one of the options that will be displayed will tell you how much fuel you have along with air and CO2-I think.

If you get GWX, there is are slideout gauges that give you all of that information.

There are visual readouts from the engineer yes,and I reckon anyone not being able to display these for any reason could always look at the gauges on the actual components themselves below deck.

As far as fuel is concerned I think getting a report from the navigator on how much fuel is available at the current speed should suffice, and just keep monitoring it from there.Thats what I do anyway

I like the idea of slideout dials and gauges, but I don't have GWX...yet.Another time

Fired up my test game.
One way to get the fuel level. Officer to the far left then hit report. The brown indicator is how much fuel is left. He will also notify you when 75,50 and 25 % is left.

Another way to see the meter is inside the command room. (me gets hungry)

Thanks! I see it now. I was confused because the manual uses a gerry can symbol for fuel and I was looking for that.

Sorry jim,I am still playing with the stock game, and commander also.
As I have said in a few posts elsewhere,I will be trying, and I say trying (as I have a dialup connection ) to get GWX and the others as soon as I have finished my current campaign.

I will be upgrading to Broadband as soon as I am able,in which case mods like them will download in no time, instead of like a year

Cheers.

I've sent GWX all over the world for people experiencing difficulties so deepest Yorkshire shouln't present any problems.

If you want to PM me your address I'll send you a copy at the weekend....gratis
